Welcome Footloose

On November 18th, this year, the crew of "Footloose" moved onto our dock, including their three dogs! Please join me in welcoming these, allthough new members, have been winter racing with us for a while, albeit on their other boat, the "Perri Perri". Which boat gave stiff competition to our racers! We will have to see how "Footloose" does in comparison. Doug and Debbie have also contributed to some of our BBQ's and I remember Debbie's BBQ pork, with relish! Let us hope that we will see a lot of them in our races and also our cruises, to say nothing of our BBQ''s, roll on the BBQ pork! Dave Anderson. Commodore NCSA.

Fall Update

30 Oct 2013

Hi everybody, this is to inform you that the boat "McBeth" is vacating our membership and our dock. This slip now becomes available to any member in good standing that would prefer to occupy it. Please e-mail me >dave@seatreks.ca< if you are interested in moving your boat to this slip. If more than one member applies for this slip, the member's NCSA seniority will count. Please join me in wishing Rick and Maureen good luck with their motorhome and wish them many happy trips with it. Have you noticed that PEHA has pressure washed all the fingers in Rushbrook, including ours? What a good job they did, too! With fall here and storms in the offing, please ensure that all your mooring lines are in good order and your fenders are in place, be safe! Cheers, Dave.

10 June 2013

Hi all! You might have seen this elsewhere, but here is the "official" version of the Sailpast yesterday.
We formed up at 1100 and those who had no paperwork were helped out by RMC SAR64 and they handed this in to the Beachmaster. After a pause, we got our line -up. The Charles Hays led, followed by RMC SAR64, then your committee vesssel, Albacore ll, with Corissa in hot pusuit. They broke us up then, with the RCMP Lindsay being placed in front of Wild Abandon, Footloose and Sea Chips. After us came a motley assortment of pleasure boats, tugs and CCG vessels. The MC called us out as we went by the beach and after the sailpast, we formed a loose group outside the breakwater and watched the show. Most of us stayed for the blessing of the Fleet. Marty had allready set up the markers and our race started. Remember the flags? White is 10 mins to start, blue 5 mins and the red flag coming down is the start. Hardly any wind, a complex pattern of ever-changind wind direction, coupled with a drizzle made it a "less than desireable" day! Nevertheless, Footloose with young Jordan Weir at the helm, 14 yrs young, with Mike as crew, came in at 1hr 40mins and 50secs. Followed closely by Wild Abandon at 1hr 46 mins, skippered by Mae and crewed by Bob Lord. The other two boats that started with us were Peri-Peri and Tiki, neither of which finished, but with the wind coming up a bit, they enjoyed the rest of the day. As the race progressed, I gave the MC the times and vessels names as they rounded the markers and at the finish and he would inform the beach crowd. I hear reports that the crowd enjoyed our show and the Beachmaster and MC invited us to next year's Sailpast and hoped that we could have a rematch of the race with Footloose and Wild Abandon! So, plan on next year! Thank you to all who participated and especially to Marty for setting up and bringing in the markers. I understand from an e-mail that Marty sent us all that he will no longer be doing that, so we will be asking for volunteers to do this in the next racing season. Thanks again, have a safe cruising season, hope to see you all on the dock from time to time, Cheers, Dave.

7 June 2013

Hello all! You will be pleased to learn that we have all sailboats on our dock now! The Committee Vessel has her new "steadying sail" hoisted! Thanks to Glen for donating the sail and Mae and Marty for cutting it to size, installing grommets and dry cleaning it. Marty and I hoisted it today and we are totally proud of it, it just needs a NCSA logo sewn on now and we will be all ready to go. No, I won't be joining in on the races! The thing is, tomorrow is the Sailpast and blessing of the fleet and our Sunday race, every vessel entered by NCSA in the Sailpast will have sails hoisted! I am sure that we will have a good turn out tomorrow and a good race. See you then, Cheers, Dave.

May 5th, Race results....

Hi to you all! Well, it was an interesting race on Sunday! For the first time in NCSA's history, a boat was penalized for two fouls at the very start of the race! I will not name names, but I'm sure that Marty will have a few comments when he publishes the race results! Anyway, Footloose came first, with Mikes' twin daughters crewing the boat quite sucessfully! Then Corissa came in, Doug had a good crew aboard that did all the work! Peri Peri came in third, but we never did find out who skippered the boat, because the Captain was still on the dock when the race started! Wild Abandon finished at the end of the line, but the crew was happy and having fun, which is what it is all about! Marty placed the markers again, thank you! The Dock Party started as soon as the last boat got in to the dock. People kept bringing food out, many different salads, pork ribs BBQ'd, salmon specials a la Mae, crabs caught by Satch and cooked up by him and Marty. Chili, nachos and dip, BBQ'd chicken, grapenut cookies, everyone brought their beverage of choice and we scoffed the food untill it was all gone and enjoyed every morsel. I counted all who were there and came up with a total of 30 people. Paul celebrated his birthday at this time, 39 and holding Paul? A good turn out, to those who missed out, see you at the next one! Please e-mail me your thoughts on the May long weekend, will it be Welcome Harbour again? The holiday is 25th, 26th and 27th May. My 72nd birthday and 28th wedding anniversary is on May 25th, so feel free to bring your commodore a pleasing birthday gift! Just joking! I am off to Hunts Inlet in the morning, to take advantage of the sunny weather and apply paint and Cetol in huge portions, so I will be off the grid for four or so days. Take care, fair winds and see you all on May long weekend! Cheers, Dave.
