Saturday Results

Hi people,

Here I sit on my boat in the harbour, having survived another earthquake and Tsunami and tying my lines tighter because we are under a Hurricane force wind warning. Never a boring day on a Rushbrook float! We enjoyed the first race of the season yesterday. Two boats went out, "Delrita" and "Wild Abandon", "Delrita" earned the bottle of wine donated by our newest member, Glenn Naylor. The day started ugly and got worse as Marty struggled to get out the markers, one with a wildly tangled line. He was soaked, cold but still filled with enthusiasm for the race! Thank you Marty for a great showing of fortitude in setting up and taking in of the markers, we're proud of you! As the day progressed, the weather settled down, we had good winds and even a glimpse of the sun! The debriefing was held on the Committee vessel and we enjoyed the camaraderie untill we all dispersed. Let's hope that the Hurricane force wind warning doesn't dismast anybody (or blow their roof off!) and we will see you next race.

Cheers, Dave.

Saturday Sailing.... 2013 Race Season starts

Dear Sailors:
The next race is set for Saturday, Nov. 3, with the Skippers' meeting at Noon and the race at 1:00.

It looks wet so far, but there might be a bit of wind.  Of course, all could change a dozen more times between now and then.  We hope to see as many boats as possible on the course.  I am sure there will be some extra, boatless but eager people hanging about, looking to crew too.
See you there.

Marty

BC Sailing, MOSS summer camp is here

The Summer camp for kids is arriving this weekend and will start on Monday the 23rd.  We have a good turn out of kids for the camp and are looking forward to a great week of sailing.  The camp will be held at Diana Lake, day use site again this year.  We really enjoyed Sam and Peter last year and are pleased to have Sam back again along with Peter's brother, who is also Sam.

Let's show the fellows a warm Rupert welcome and please drop by the camp to see what you have sponsored

Sea Fest Sailpast

For those of you who wanted to join in on the Sailpast coming up this Sunday. I have tried contacting the Sea Fest Committee by e-mail and by 'phone, no response. However, if we all turn up at the rally point - the lightering dock - at 1100 hours on Sunday, 10 June and turn our VHF radios to Channel 14, we can contact the Beachmaster. He usually sends out a boat to gather our information and then also sends out the order of the boats. This year's theme, is a salute to the CCG for 50 years of service. Good luck and hope to see you there, Cheers, Dave.

29th April 2012.
We  had a successful AGM yesterday. Discussions were followed by decisions and also plans for the future. Roberta signed off on the sec/tres position and this position was filled by Brian Roberts. Thank you, Roberta, for the eight years that you put in! We also decided to have a social convenor, Mae was voted into that position, with Doug Quibell as her able assistant. I will be sending out the minutes of the AGM to all members of NCSA in the next day or so, mostly for the benefit of those who were unable to attend. Just a reminder, PEHA will be fining people $75- if they are caught hanging crab/prawn traps off the side of Rushbrook floats. Please check your e-mails for important news. Cheers, Dave.

AGM 2012

To all members in good standing - our AGM will be held on Saturday the 28th April. As usual, we will meet at the Charles Hays High School, lower level, rear entrance at 1300 hours. After this meeting, we will have a get together to discuss local and not so local anchorages. If you would like to bring your charts and point out your favourite anchorages Paul will enter these on his computer for all of us to enjoy. See you then, Cheers, Dave.

Heritage Lighthouse Protection Act

If you remember signing the petition for this, I am glad to convey to you the cheering result!
Parks Canada has sent me news that all three Lighthouses that we supported, Green Island, Triple Island and Bonilla Island will all be considered for designation under the Act! Now they will mull all this info over, the designation will be made by 29 May 2015. I sure hope this gives them enough time!! Thank you all for your support in this matter, Cheers, Dave.

Once again,   we have Peri Peri in the winners circle.

The Sunday turned out to be a great day for sailing.  The wind was up, without the rain.

Doug, with all sails up, in the usual, fearless manner, took the race.  The rest of us better knock the moss off and get going.
