Sailpast highlights Sunday 12th Jun

It was a great Sunday! The weather was a bit off, but no rain and a bit of wind for a good sail afterwards! We mustered at 1115 Sunday morning, just off the Cow Bay dock. The lead vessel this year was the new Charles Hayes. Followed by the Point Henry and her RIB, then the Eagle Bay Oil recovery Vessel. Then it was our turn! Albacore ll up front with the banner on her port side, followed by Delrita, Sea Chips, Wild Abandon and Peri Peri. There was a few boats behind us, some pleasure and some rescue and the RCMP launch. After we showed our stuff in front of the crowd at Kwinitsa Station and Lightering Dock, we rafted up outside the boom and enjoyed lunch and companionship while watching the Cormorant Helicopter working with the Point Henry. The helicopter is 1.2 mtrs longer than the Point Henry! There was also a show put on by the Pathfinder, the newer Pilot boat. We joined in the Fleet Blessing. The fly past of various helicopters and floatplanes and even Hawk Air was fun, but noisy! Thanks to the crew of Wild Abandon for the feast of fresh prawns, crab and salmon pate!! Excellent! We also enjoyed the antics of Glen and his son on his new acquistion, a Hobie Cat, including high speed runs and two capsizes! After lunch most sailed off to enjoy the rest of the afternoon, with a bit of a SE wind to help them along. This is the best turn-out in years, thanks to you who showed up and participated! Next year we will have an even larger turn-out, won't we? Yes!
